Origin/Education
My name is Wesley Piter, I am attending the University of Nevada, Reno as a Business and Political Science student. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but I have lived most of my life in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I love Nevada and Reno so far and I am eager to continue my education at UNR. I love the beauty that both Reno and Colorado share and all they have to offer. I am a big skier and I can’t wait to check out the Tahoe slopes!
Career Goals
I am working toward a career as either a corporate attorney or an entrepreneur, driven by my passion for law, politics, and civic engagement. I’ve always considered myself ambitious, with a strong desire to accomplish meaningful things; whether that means practicing law or building my own business. This ambition was shaped in part by a school trip to Washington, D.C., where I attended a conference and had the opportunity to lobby for nonprofit funding in front of members of the U.S. Congress (see below). That experience continues to inspire me to work hard so that I can one day collaborate with influential leaders who make a real impact.
Sports
Sports have always been a huge part of my life and continue to be one of my biggest hobbies in college. My favorite have always been Tennis, baseball, and basketball. I played tennis and baseball in high school. Sports taught me so much about leadership, public speaking, teamwork, and how to lose. I have always been a good athlete but taking hard losses teaches you the most. I was awarded Team Captain during my senior year for tennis and led my doubles team to the state tournament. I certainly carry the competitive nature I founded through sports into my education and professional career.
Family/Friends
My family and friends have certainly been my biggest motivator and support group throughout my life. I have strong friendship from all three states that I have lived in. It is so refreshing to be able to stay connected to different eras of my life. My family and I are also all very close. None of us live in the same state anymore but we all stay connected. My favorite time is at Christmas when we all go to Texas to celebrate the holidays. I could not do all that I do without these meaningful people.
